Rukari Ancient History Museum

Rwesero

Rwandan Ancient History Museum opened at Rukari on May 24, 2008.

In spite of the early threat of rain, Saturday turned out to be a beautiful sunny day for the grand opening of the palace that was once the home of King MUTARA III Rudahigwa. It was officially opened as the Rwandan Ancient History Museum by Joseph Habineza, the Minister of Culture and Sports.

Dignitaries, including ambassadors, officials and representatives of various groups that helped to make this ancient history museum a reality, came out to see the spectacular opening of this fine addition to Rwanda's growing collection of museums.

Rwandan performers did a splendid job presenting Rwandan poetry and traditional dance reminisent of the times of King Yuhi V Musinga and his son King Rudahigwa. For the people who gathered to take part in the museum's opening ceremony, it was an exciting day.
